Our story…

We are staunch believers in bringing science back to the masses.

Last month, our founder, Suchitha Champak, gave a TEDx talk at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) Pune.

As a young academic a few years ago, she was frustrated in academia.

She just knew that she would not make it there five years down the line for many reasons.

Now with an ever-increasing community of science communicators, SciRio is India’s only platform of its kind that is helping science communicators upskill and find opportunities for them.

Hers was probably the first TEDx talk around SciComm from India.

Her journey as a scientist turned entrepreneur has been featured in digital media outlets like The Assam Tribune and BioPatrika.

She spoke about how science and society have to work hand-in-hand to bring science back to the masses. 🤝

She envisions a future where science and society co-evolve to build an equitable and accessible space for everyone to empower themselves.

The SciComm Hub – Blog

This is a space for the expression of Science Communication efforts

This month we published a series of articles by Unnati Ashar on An AstroSat instrument is scanning the sky with X-rays on our blog, The SciComm Hub.

In 2020, AstroSat completed five years in orbit. On this occasion, the Journal of Astrophysics and Astronomy released a special issue, “AstroSat: Five Years in Orbit”.

We bring you a series of articles focussing on one of the X-ray instruments of AstroSat, the Cadmium Zinc Telluride Imager, or the CZTI.

A graphical representation of the workings of CZTI. Illustrated by: Rupsy Khurana

The series consists of four articles published every Wednesday of the week.

1.) In the first article, she introduces the Cadmium Zinc Telluride Imager (CZTI).

2.) In the second article, she talks about how scientists got the most bang for the buck by using seemingly non-productive pixels to extend the energy range in which CZTI operates.

3.) In the third article of the series, she talks about the role of data analysts in obtaining readable and useful data. Sifting true events from noise is as crucial as getting data, and Doing Astronomy with Numbers is an incredible task.

4.) In the last part of this series, she will discuss how CZTI can morph into an ‘all-sky monitor’, where it can see target astronomical sources within its field of view and beyond it.

Look out for this article on our blog this coming Wednesday!

(b.) Social media support for Colonies in Conflict film

Colonies in Conflict is a feature-length documentary that examines the state of wild bees in a fast-developing Indian landscape.

Our impact

We helped them reach a whopping +1203% more accounts 🔥🔥🔥

We designed content which engaged more than 275% accounts ⚡️⚡️⚡️

We sold out all the tickets for its first premiere within 4 days of its sale 🌟🌟🌟

Lastly, we achieved these numbers within 15 days of the commencement of the project 🎯

Concerned about pollinator decline, a filmmaker follows, for the first time, migratory giant Asian honeybees to uncover how human progress is driving native bee species to the point of no return.

The trailer is out now!!!

We have already reached 2K views on it… 🔥🔥🔥

Colonies in Conflict film is available to screen in small groups.

If you wish to host a film screening at your Home/Organisation/Apartment/Community/ School/ Corporation Company, you can book it by emailing info@coloniesinconflict.com or by filling out this form.
